Relevant technologies

Laser Scanning LiDAR

Terrestrial laser scanning currently represents one of the most advanced technologies for the three-dimensional survey of buildings, monuments, and infrastructure.

ScanHeritage Geomatics uses Trimble Terrestrial Laser Scanning systems, including the Trimble X7 Laser Scanner and Trimble X9 3D Laser Scanner.

These tools allow you to acquire millions of three-dimensional points in extremely short times, generating point clouds with very high density and millimetric precision.

The Trimble X7 is particularly effective in architecture, cultural heritage and HBIM modelling contexts, while the Trimble X9 offers superior performance in terms of speed, range and operational robustness, making it ideal for complex surveys in infrastructure and industrial sectors.

Laser scanning systems are primarily designed for the survey of environments, buildings, and infrastructures, where it is necessary to rapidly acquire large amounts of three-dimensional data with high metric precision.

For the digitization of small-scale objects, works of art or artifacts, ScanHeritage integrates these technologies with very high-resolution three-dimensional scanning systems based on structured light,

Scanning Total Station

In addition to laser scanning systems, ScanHeritage Geomatics also uses the Trimble SX12 Scanning Total Station, an instrument that integrates the functionality of a highly precise topographic total station with three-dimensional scanning capabilities.

Unlike the X-Series laser scanners, which are primarily designed to quickly acquire large quantities of three-dimensional points, the Trimble SX12 is designed for precision topographic measurement operations, while also enabling detailed scanning of specific areas.

This approach allows for the integration of data density, topographic control, and metric accuracy, which are essential elements in complex surveying projects.

Digital photogrammetry

Digital photogrammetry allows the three-dimensional reconstruction of buildings and environments through the processing of series of overlapping photographic images.

This technology allows to obtain:

  • high-resolution three-dimensional models

  • realistic photo textures

  • metric orthophotos

  • detailed three-dimensional reconstructions

The integration of laser scanning and photogrammetry allows for the combination of geometric precision and visual quality, producing digital models that are particularly effective for heritage conservation, study, and enhancement applications.

From Reality to Digital Twin

ScanHeritage Geomatics' activities represent the fundamental data acquisition phase for the creation of Digital Twins of buildings, monuments and infrastructures.

Through the integration of laser scanning, topographic surveying and photogrammetry it is possible to generate high-precision digital models that can be used for:

  • documentation and conservation of cultural heritage

  • architectural and engineering design

  • infrastructure monitoring and maintenance

  • real estate management

  • cultural enhancement applications and immersive reality.

Areas of application

ScanHeritage Geomatics' activities find application in various operational contexts.

Cultural heritage
historical monuments, places of worship, museums and archaeological sites.

Architecture and restoration
